A little bit about my approach...

Because Coaching is becoming more popular than ever, more and more clinicians are offering their services in this expanding field. It can be hard to decide among the options. Learning a little bit about me will be helpful in making the best personal choice, as everyone tackles this a bit differently.

My approach to wellness is both values-based and behaviour-analytic in nature. I refer to it as The Behaviour Way. This may differ from other approaches you've tried in the past, as it focuses on targeting specific habits or behaviours for change that may be out of alignment with what you value in life. Because I use practical observable methods to measure your progress, very little is left to chance or speculation. I use this type of approach because it is evidence-based, and has been successfully used to help people like you make positive changes in their relationships, time management, work-life balance, stress reduction, weight, and health.

Together we look to understanding your current situation because learning how your current routines or habits impact your everyday life is often the key in developing new healthier behaviours that make a lasting difference. We don't waste time utilizing ineffective techniques, and work collaboratively to discover an approach that works for you. If a particular action isn't working, we work together to change it. We all have a vision of our ideal life. Living a life that matches what we value, and allows us to achieve our goals, requires solid planning based on what we know can be effective.

After an initial meeting to discuss your vision and goals for wellness, we work together to design a manageable and attainable plan. The approaches we use to help you move towards your identified goals have been studied for their effectiveness, meaning the approaches I use to help you lose weight, eat better, or make positive changes in your personal life have been backed by research for their usefulness, quality, and reliability.  Typically this occurs in-office, or over Zoom, but some find an e-mail or telephone sessions useful as well.  Working together as a team, we  strive to make your dreams become a reality.

Making the choice to enlist the help of a professional to help you make positive and lasting changes in your life is a very personal decision. Ultimately, it's an investment in you. I understand this, and invite you to book a complimentary information session or phone call outlining my services.

Discover if my approach to wellness and better health is the right fit for you!

Camilla Copeland, BA,MPEd

Life Coach and Behaviour Consultant

Camilla holds a Masters degree (MPEd) from the University of Western Ontario in Applied Behaviour Analysis and an Honours degree in Psychology and Family and Child Studies from the University of Guelph.

Her Lifestyle and Wellness Health Coach credentials were earned at York University's Health Coach Institute. She also possesses a post graduate diploma in Behavioural Science, and has been provincially trained as an Instructor Therapist through the Ministry of Community and Children's Services. She is an avid physical fitness enthusiast and holds Fitness Instructor certifications in both cardio and resistance training disciplines.

She has been in the Helping Field for over twenty years with her early career beginning in residential treatment homes for children with severe behaviour challenges. It was here where she first realized her passion for helping others, and her desire to follow a behaviour-focused path in helping her clients make significant life changes.

Over the course of her career she has worked with all ages and abilities from 12 months to 80+ years. She has worked within the public school system as a child and youth counsellor, and as an ABA therapist and parenting coach. Her years in private practice have built on this foundation where she focused on tackling the behaviour concerns of her clients within their own homes and community. Recently she has parlayed her years of experience in behaviour change theory to creating a Coaching Program with the goal of helping mentally healthy adults make significant and lasting changes to their present life situation.

Her primary research interests lie in values-based therapies and the use of self-management systems, to assist individuals with self-regulation and control and the role wearable technology can play in changing health related behaviours.

She is also interested in the role mindfulness based meditation can play in perceived levels of pain, stress, focus,  and achievement.
